For anyone who cannot function without their contact lenses, listen up, this tip is for you!
We hear consistently from many of our patients they have a habit of putting their contact lenses in before they even brush their teeth in the morning and only remove them right before bed.
Unfortunately, this is not how contact lenses were designed to be worn. It is extremely important that each day your eyes get a rest from the captivity of the contact lenses.
Dr. Sharma recommends that our patients remove their contacts every day for at least two hours prior to going to bed. This allows for oxygen to flow to the cornea, which is vital as this is the only way that this part of the body receives oxygen – directly through the air. Additionally, choosing contact lenses that are breathable is important, especially if you plan to wear them every day.
So be sure to give your eyes a breather well before drifting off to sleep and they will thank you for it
