For some people, their glasses are more important than any other article of clothing, jewelry, or fashion accessory. They are the first thing they wear when they wake up and the last thing they put down before bed. They are worn continuously, and in all conditions (sometimes even in the shower for those who can’t distinguish between the conditioner and shampoo)! So how do we keep them clean?
How Do I Clean My Glasses Properly?
A question often posed by patients of our clinic. The solution is quite simple. I recommend if you are going to use water, use COLD water to clean your glasses. Never use hot water and/or soap to clean glasses as it can affect the lenses. If you have a difficult time getting rid of oil build-up, invest in a spray that is provided by your family eye doctor. Never use Windex to clean your lenses; the solution is not made for eyeglass coatings.
Quality Is Important When It Comes To Your Specs
If you regularly wear glasses, I recommend patients get a Crizal Forte coating put on their lenses. This helps maintain the anti-reflective coating to last longer and not scratch and peel. Remember with anything, it is wise to invest in a good quality coating rather than a cheap one. It will always outperform the latter.
