COVID-19 Update

Dear patients of Inner Harbour Optometry:

The COVID-19 pandemic has created a truly unprecedented situation which affects us all. Our hearts go out to anyone who has been impacted by the virus, either directly or indirectly. As restrictions are being lifted, it is important that we all continue to do our part to prevent resurgence of COVID-19 in our community. We have taken steps to help ensure your safety during your visit.

Staffing has been adjusted to ensure that a minimum number of people are present in the office at any given time and there is a maximum of four patients permitted in the waiting area. Seating has been adjusted to conform to the 2m spacing. Where social distance rules cannot be maintained physical barriers and or personal protective equipment (PPE) is being utilized.

All staff are required to wear surgical masks, full face shields, and plexiglass has been installed at the front desk as well as in the doctor’s exam rooms when physical distance is unattainable. Exam rooms and equipment will continue to be disinfected between each patient and all surfaces will be cleaned regularly. Staff will each have their own workstation and supplies to prevent cross contamination. Doctors are required to wear PPE (surgical masks and face shield and/or goggles) at all times.

Staff and doctors are instructed to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms prior to work and all patients will be screened for symptoms when booking their eye exam. Hand sanitizer is available at the front desk and patients are required to sanitize their hands upon arrival. Patients are asked to arrive no more than five minutes prior to their eye exam.

If you are feeling unwell with any of the following symptoms:

  • fever, cough, difficulty breathing, muscle aches, fatigue, headache, sore throat, runny nose, diarrhea or;
  • have traveled outside of Canada or;
  • have had contact with someone who has traveled outside of Canada or;
  • had contact with someone infected with COVID-19;

we ask that you stay home, and call your Family Physician’s Office or 811.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this evolving situation. We are all working hard to keep our patients, staff, and community safe and healthy.

Sincerely,
Inner Harbour Optometry
